I'm off meat.

And let me tell you why - the meat industry in this country, and basically every other country, is positively revolting. Boiling down weird cow parts, feeding it to chickens, boiling down chicken parts mixing with the old cow parts, feeding it back to the cows. It's disgusting! Maybe I'll cook my own organic meat or something, but hellll no, I ain't eating meat in restaurants, from the supermarket, at a deli - HELLLL NO! And now elk might have mad cow because they ate with the cows & ate all sorts of spinal matter - ARGH. And in the midst of all this, sales of beef have not gone down at all. Even in Seattle! Newsweek discussed one woman who is on the Atkins diet who said that she'd basically rather get the mad cow than get fatty boom bat all over again. What an idiot.

But - I would like to quote the best part of the Newsweek article: "To consumer advocates and Democratic candidates, the episode was Exhibit 1 in their case against the Bush administration's reflexive opposition to government regulation, except in a crisis. Democrats in Congress, led by Rep. Gary Ackerman of New York and Sen. Daniel Akaka of Hawaii, had been trying for years to enact a ban against downer meat and been thwarted by Republican majorities - and opposition from the USDA itself, several of whose top administrators come from the cattle industry." You know why they opposed it? Bitchass money grubbing pieces of poop, y'all. As the 35 yr.old Mark McGroarty said in the article, "I'll go back when I see Dick Cheney eating steak tartare on Fox News." It's just absolutely ridiculous that we've let our country get overrun by republican horseshit - I mean, they don't want to regulate not making cows eat cows. ARGH! What else are they doing, that is too big to let the country know about???
